Encouraging museum experiences with regional organisations and for the vernacular is a dear endeavour for us.
Faandee collaborated with SARA, Centre to develop the permanent exhibition section forThe “Roots – Man Made Heritage” that offers insight into a wide range of artistic traditions recorded worldwide since the early civilisations of the Indus Valley, Egypt, till the dawn of the modern world and museums.
The unique display – an interactive set of life size book-like panels, introduces the viewer, especially the children from neighbourhood regions to a long legacy of human creations through in a nutshell.
Each panel is designed to accommodate the variable heights of little children to young adults annotating with Kannada and English short texts, titles, captions, timelines, and maps to educate them along with a sense of time and geography.
An immersive experience executed by Uddhav Labde made possible through Open Source images (duly credited under Creative Commons licence) and some images sourced from Jehangir Nicholson Art Foundation, Mumbai.
Each of the six book-like sections are briefly arranged as per 1. Sources of History, 2. Ancient Cultures, 3. Mediaeval Period, 4. Industrial Revolution 5. Camera & the world, 6. Museums of the world, 7. Contemporary artists – Indian and International. A complete view of this would require a curious student to spend at least an hour or two that will undoubtedly enable a broad exposure to human abilities and the spirit of life.
